What’s Coming to America.gov in 2027
America.gov launched in September 2026 as an information and guidance tool. Official plans call for expanded transaction features starting in 2027. This guide summarizes what has been announced and what remains uncertain.
Information current as of October 2026. Timelines and available services may change as agencies complete integration work.
From answers to transactions
In its current phase, America.gov answers questions and points to official sources. The stated direction for 2027 is to let users apply, enroll, and track progress on certain covered services directly through the portal instead of being sent to a separate agency site for every step.
Examples mentioned in White House and agency materials include:
- Passport renewal
- Medicare enrollment
- Other high-volume federal services as agencies connect their systems
Not every service will move at the same time. The Executive Order directs agencies to identify covered services (generally those used by more than 100,000 people in a 12-month period and available online) and make them accessible through America.gov.
Login.gov integration
The order also calls for integrating Login.gov as the authentication service for America.gov. This would allow signed-in users to complete authorized transactions and, where supported, carry identity verification across participating agencies.
Until that integration is widely available, most use of America.gov does not require an account. When sign-in features expand, users will likely use their existing Login.gov credentials.
How agencies are expected to integrate
The Office of Management and Budget is directed to issue implementation guidance. Agencies are expected to:
- Identify which of their public-facing services qualify as covered services
- Make existing digital forms, dashboards, and interfaces accessible through America.gov
- Work with GSA and the National Design Studio on the technical connection
Some services are excluded by the order itself, including IRS tax filing and certain national-security-sensitive functions. Other exclusions or additions may be determined later.
What this means for users right now
Until the 2027 features are live:
- Use America.gov to understand steps, required documents, and where to go next
- Complete actual applications, payments, and case-status checks on the official agency website
- Check source links in every answer before acting on deadlines or fees

How to stay updated
Because the set of available services will grow over time:
- Revisit America.gov periodically and try the task you care about
- Watch for official announcements from the White House, GSA, or the relevant agency
- When a service moves onto the portal, the site should indicate that you can complete it there rather than only explaining the steps
This page will be updated if major milestones are announced.
