America.gov for Spanish Speakers
America.gov supports Spanish. You can ask questions in Spanish and receive answers in Spanish, with links to official government sources. This guide shows how Spanish-speaking users in the United States can use it for common tasks.
Language support
America.gov currently supports English, Spanish, and French. When you ask a question in Spanish, the answer is returned in Spanish. Voice input also works in Spanish on supported browsers.
The underlying information comes from official U.S. government sources. Some source pages may still be in English; the answer itself is provided in the language you used.
Example questions in Spanish
You can ask about the same topics covered in the English guides. Being specific helps. Include your situation when it matters (age, location, veteran status, first-time vs renewal).
Passport and travel documents:
Medicare and health coverage:
Address, Social Security, and benefits:
Immigration-related forms:
After you receive an answer, check the source links. They point to the official pages. For most tasks you still complete the application on the agency website. If the first answer is too general, ask a follow-up such as “¿Cuál es el costo?” or “¿Puedo hacerlo en línea?”.
Using voice and PDF upload in Spanish
On supported browsers you can tap the microphone icon and speak your question in Spanish instead of typing. Speak clearly and include the same details you would in a typed question.
You can also upload a government PDF and ask about it in Spanish. Examples:
The site states that personal information is automatically removed from uploaded documents before processing. Still verify important deadlines and fees on the linked official page before you act.
Tips for Spanish-language questions
- Write or speak in the Spanish you normally use; the system accepts everyday phrasing
- Ask one main question at a time, then follow up
- If an answer mentions a form number, ask about that form specifically
- Check the source links even if the answer is in Spanish—the original page may be in English
For general usage advice that applies in any language, see How to Use America.gov.
Current limits (same as English)
Spanish support does not change the current functional limits. America.gov can explain steps and point to official sources, but it does not yet complete most applications inside the chat. IRS tax filing and certain national-security-sensitive services remain excluded.
