Convert between major currencies using daily central-bank reference rates from Frankfurter (European Central Bank table). Rates are not live market quotes and this page is not financial advice.

What these numbers are

Banks and news sites publish many kinds of “exchange rate.” This tool uses the official euro reference rates compiled by the European Central Bank and republished by the open-source Frankfurter API. The table is typically published once on business days. Weekends and holidays reuse the last published fixing.

That is useful for invoices, travel budgets, and comparing two prices. It is the wrong feed for trading, card-network settlement, or crypto. Those use different mid-market or retail spreads that move through the day.

Conversion happens in your browser after the rate table is downloaded. The amount you type is not sent to PCToolsOnline.com. Frankfurter sees a request for the public rate file, not your personal numbers.

How to use

  1. Enter an amount.
  2. Choose the currency you have and the currency you want.
  3. Click Convert. The page shows the converted amount, the 1-for-1 rate, and the fixing date.
  4. Swap flips the two currencies and converts again.
  5. Popular pairs fill the menus so you can compare common routes quickly.

Accuracy, cache, and limits

The first visit downloads the USD-based table and stores it in this browser for four hours. Reloading the page during that window does not hit the API again. After four hours, or if you clear site data, the table is fetched again.

If the network request fails, the last saved table is reused when one exists, and a warning is shown. If nothing is cached, conversion is blocked until a table can be loaded.

Frankfurter covers the ECB currency set (roughly 30 codes), not every world currency. Exotic or sanctioned units will not appear in the lists.

Always treat the result as a reference. A bank, card issuer, or airport kiosk will add a spread. For a contract, use the rate source named in that contract.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a live forex price?

No. It is a daily official reference rate. Intraday moves are not reflected until the next published table.

Do you charge for conversion?

No. The tool on PCToolsOnline.com is free. There is no account.

Why is Saturday’s date older than today?

The ECB does not publish a new table every calendar day. The date on the result is the fixing date, not “now.”

Can I use this for accounting?

Only if your accountant accepts ECB reference rates. Many firms require a specific vendor feed. This page does not produce a formal FX confirmation.

Where does the data come from?

Rates are requested from the Frankfurter public API, which redistributes ECB euro reference rates. See frankfurter.dev.
