Markdown Viewer
Open a .md or .txt file, or paste Markdown, and read the rendered page. Preview only — this page does not save a copy on any server.
Want to keep editing? Open the same text in the Markdown Editor.
When a viewer is enough
A viewer is for reading, not drafting. Drop in a README from a download, a note exported from another app, or a ChatGPT answer you want to see with headings and lists instead of raw asterisks. If the file is only for you, there is no reason to upload it anywhere.
The file is read with the browser File API. The bytes stay on this computer. PCToolsOnline.com does not receive the filename or the contents.
How to use
- Click Open file and choose a .md or .txt file, or paste into the left box.
- Read the preview on the right.
- Use Load sample if you only want to see how the renderer treats common syntax.
Frequently asked questions
Which files can I open?
.md, .markdown and .txt. Other extensions are ignored. Very large files may be slow because the whole text is parsed in the tab.
Are images shown?
Only if the Markdown points at a URL the browser can load. Local image paths from your disk will not resolve.
Is this different from the editor?
Same renderer. The viewer is aimed at opening a file and reading it. The editor adds copy and download for writing.
