Sign PDF

This stamps a picture of a signature. It is not a certified digital signature, it has no certificate, and it may not meet legal e-sign rules. Anyone can copy the picture. Password-protected PDFs are refused. Nothing is uploaded.

Draw in the box, or upload a PNG. A white background in an upload is removed.

Choose a PDF, draw a signature, then drag it on the preview.

Place a signature you draw, or a PNG you already have, onto a page and download the PDF. Check the downloaded file. The mark is only ink in the page content.

How to use

  1. Open the PDF and pick the page. The preview matches the way the page is displayed, including pages that are stored sideways.
  2. Draw with a mouse or finger, or upload an image. Drag the signature on the preview. Size changes its width. Opacity fades it, and the downloaded PDF uses the same fade.
  3. Stamp. Tick the box first if the same relative position should be copied onto every page (up to 60).

What this signature is

The mark is a transparent PNG drawn into the page. A normal PDF viewer will show it. A signature panel that asks for a certificate will not list it as a digital signature. Do not use it where a law, a bank, or a court requires a qualified electronic signature.

Placement uses the on-screen preview. The same fraction of the page width and height is used if you stamp every page, so a signature in the lower right stays in the lower right even when page sizes differ.

If a page looks rotated in the preview, the stamp is rotated with it. Still open the downloaded PDF and look. Organize PDF can reorder or rotate pages before you sign.

Questions

Is this legally binding?

Not by itself. A picture of ink is not identity and not a certificate. Whether it is accepted depends on the person receiving the file. This site does not provide that legal effect.

Can I sign every page?

Yes. The checkbox repeats the same relative position. Pages after 60 are left untouched and the status line says so.

Will the original text stay selectable?

Yes. Unlike Compress PDF, this does not redraw the page. It only adds the image.
