Crop Image

Drop an image here or click to choose

Drag on the photo to draw a new crop. Drag inside the box to move it. Drag a handle to resize.

Cut a photo down to the part you want. Keep a free rectangle, lock a common ratio, or export a circle with a transparent background.

How to use

  1. Open an image. A crop box is already centered on it.
  2. Choose a ratio if the destination needs one. 1:1 is the usual profile and avatar size. 4:5 and 16:9 cover most social posts.
  3. Drag the dimmed area to start a new box. Drag inside the box to move it. Drag a handle to resize.
  4. Rectangle downloads a JPG. Circle / oval downloads a PNG so the outside of the shape is transparent. Set the ratio to 1:1 if you want a true circle rather than an oval.

Limits

This is a crop, not a background remover. The circle keeps whatever is inside the oval, including the original background. If you need a solid color behind a head, use Passport Photo and pull the picture so the frame color shows, or crop first and composite elsewhere.

The downloaded file uses the original pixels inside the box, not the small preview. A very small box is still a real crop, it just will not look sharp if you enlarge it later.

Questions

Does circle crop stay transparent in JPG?

No. JPG cannot store transparency, so circle mode saves PNG. Rectangle mode saves JPG.

Can I crop several photos at once?

No. One image at a time. Image Splitter cuts one photo into a grid if that is what you need.
