Tiles are JPG files named by row and column. Leftover pixels stay on the last row and last column.

Slice one picture into a grid. Each cell becomes its own JPG, packed in a ZIP. Use it for a carousel, a puzzle, a contact sheet, or a set of squares from a wide image.

How to use

  1. Open the image.
  2. Set columns and rows. 2×2 and 3×3 are the usual grids. 1×3 makes a vertical strip of three.
  3. Check the preview. Download ZIP. Files are named tile-r01-c01.jpg and so on, row first.

How the edges are handled

If the width does not divide evenly by the column count, the last column is a few pixels wider and keeps the remainder. The same rule applies to the last row. Nothing is thrown away.

Tiles are saved as JPG at quality 92, so a PNG with transparency will lose the transparent areas (they become black in the tile). Crop to a circle first if you need a transparent shape, and do not run that PNG through this splitter.

Questions

Can I split into more than 6?

Not on this page. Six by six is 36 files, which is already a large download from a phone browser.

Is this the same as a collage?

No. Splitter cuts one image apart. Photo Collage places several images into one frame.
